This site is dedicated to my adventures with baking, cooking, and beer dinners and pairings I host and teach, and traveling.
My name is Candice Alström. I work for BeerAdvocate.com. I am married to the co-owner and co-founder of BeerAdvocate, Todd Alström. I formerly managed, produced, and organized over 35 BeerAdvocate beer festivals. I now focus solely on setting up tastings around the Boston area teaching people how to enjoy food expertly matched with beer. I have worked in fine dining as well as low end dining, tended bar, and have been a baker in my previous working life. I like to experiment with cooking despite being a total amateur. I have dreadful grammar and piss poor knife skills.
I have been published twice for the BeerAdvocate Magazine.
Ladies, Don't Look At Me To Start Your Beer Revolutions
How To Lose Friends & Alienate The Industry
Currently I am working to expand my knowledge on chocolate. I enjoy chocolate immensely and wish to learn all I can about it. From growing, to bean production and fermentation, to the processing of it into bars and confections.
I have started reviewing chocolates in an effort to watch my palate grow and spread the word about good chocolate. As I learn more, my reviews will become more in depth.
Keeping it practical and to your own tastes is the best way to live your individual life. I love the Beer Advocate tweets, gives me lot of ideas!

I am a red wine lover also but I have found one white I like when the occasion calls for it. Soave - inexpensive one by Bolla and quite a few better ones. Give it a try.

Candice,
you should make a trip down to Asheville, beer city usa. Not only do we have 7 plus local breweries, but we also have some fantastic local chocolate.
