I have left my poor gossip blog alone for awhile. She is not really a boy, but the quote from There Will Be Blood fit. I have flat out abandoned my baby. Let's face it it's all random shit talk about useless celebrities anyway. Occasionally some psycho political talk. It's poorly written and I will be the first to admit that. Yet oddly I am hilarious. Even I am the only one who thinks that.
Frankly I got bored with celebrities. What else can I say about crack whores and poorly dressed morons with huge paychecks? The political realm has been stale too. Nothing but ridiculous republicans looking for attention and relevancy any way they can get it and the media entertaining them. The latest would be Glenn Beck calling the President a racist and the "Birthers" doing anything for desperate attention to reach the news for a quick 15 minute blurb. Most embarrassingly was the G.Gordon Liddy interview on Chris Matthews. Two total morons one decrepit and senile and the other a huge pompous ass who refuses to say "Cheney" properly, having a debate about Obama being a citizen. No need to comment as they make unbelievable headlines with this total bullshit and complete wastes of time.
I have also been busy with my amateur cooking adventures on Pork Chops & Chicken. My blog about Chocolate reviews 20°N & 20°S will be more active soon as well. I am back logged on reviews and have to start uploading them. So I am kind of busy with real blogging versus shit talking lately.
Today I am writing about random musings. "Bud-Light Gate," Michael Vick Is An Asshole and so are his supporters, and my Big Brother Obsession on Twitter.
"Bud-Light Gate."
That's what I am calling it. The ridiculous circumstances in which the President of the United States finds himself in trouble with Beer Geeks because he chose Bud-Light as his official meet and greet beer.
I am not going to bother with the political aspect to this story. Gates, Crowley, the circumstances... Bleh. I am mostly miffed about the beer geeks on this issue. Obama chooses Bud-Light and next thing you know the beer community is about to burn effigies of Obama and lose hope in his presidency because he didn't choose a "Craft Beer."
Granted he should have chosen a craft beer. It would have been bad ass and made him look more authentic when he was on the campaign trail visiting places like Smuttynose in New Hampshire. Or the Bethlehem Brew works in Pennsylvania as seen in the picture above of him enjoying their ESB.
However, I say this to beer geeks: Shut the fuck up and stop whining about Obama choosing Bud-Light. It doesn't make him un-American. Yes some morons have actually said that because Budweiser is no longer an American company. Stupidity and politics mixed with beer leads to these kinds of stunning revelations people are actually saying out loud.
Folks we have gone to far with the bullshit. Let the man drink whatever the heck he wants. Even if he chose a craft beer we all know that some asshole would be bound to complain about it anyway. Say he chose a Chimay for instance. You just know some dickwad would say "ohhh what's with the Belgian crap." Or again say that he is un-American. If he chose Victory, someone would have said "why not Dogfish Head or Avery?" It will never end when it comes to pleasing everyone. Maybe that was the reason he chose the beer to begin with. Maybe he actually likes Bud-Light. Whatever the reason is, who fucking cares?
The best I have read about the "Bud-Light Gate" :
The Economixt: Someone drops off Narragansett off on Gate's door step!
I like this because it highlights Narragansett which recently published my recipe for Beer Battered Fish Tacos on their website. I am okay with admitting a little bias.
The worst has been having to delete posts about this very topic on BeerAdvocate.com forcing Todd Alström to actually have to post this memo on one of the forums.
"It's unfortunate that we have to post like this, but due to some people
not being able to talk about the latest Obama & Beer "news" w/o
hijacking good natured threads in order to inject their political
and/or racist opinions ... we ask that everyone please refrain from
posting about this topic.
Those who do (intentionally or not)
will have their threads deleted and depending on the nature of the
content their account might be deleted too.
Let's stick to what brings us all here (beer!) and keep the stuff that divides us off the site.
Thanks."
The reason is because of stupid shitheads who keep posting vile racist remarks about Obama. Or can't be smart enough to keep their political opinions out of the topic. Some have even been locked out of BA for a while to upwards of having their accounts deleted for the vile racism.
Todd said one great thing about it that I thought bared repeating about where he stands with this kind of behavior.
"I would rather piss off 100 beer geeks than make one person feel unwelcome."
I happen to agree wholeheartedly. It's 2009 and very sad that we have to put up with babysitting threads in this manner. Unbelievable really.
It's a beer website and we don't allow off topic crap. Especially political opinions. No one cares about your political stance on BA. Yet they do it every time. Anytime there is a post about Obama and beer or a beer dedicated to Obama, some asshole has to chime in with "yay for socialism" or "This country is going to hell." The racist posts are the worst. Saying Obama should serve Old English 40's or King Cobra and Colt 45. I think it's unfair that we can't talk about Obama and beer on BA because people are racist or too republican to allow a straight forward conversation about beer and Obama go on. Don't get me wrong it was an issue with anti-Bush people as well and anti-McCain and Palin folks.
It's not that we care to regulate how people think, but for fucks sake grow up and keep it off a site solely dedicated to beer. It's not that hard to ignore a thread you are not interested in. Well for some the temptation is too great apparently. "Must fight back. Must voice my bullshit opinions that no one asked for or cares about. Must thread jack to let everyone know where I stand. It's a war to be the king of the internet with my opinions."
One other point to make about this supid topic is that the choice of Obama picking Bud-Light also fuels more pointless trash talk about Macros vs. Craft Beer war. I am on the side of Craft Beer in nearly all instances, but what I cannot deal with anymore is pointless trash talk of macro beers and nothing new being brought to the table.
It's the same drivel. "Bud Sucks." Blah blah blah. Unless you have something of value to contribute to the conversation about why we should support craft beer over macros, do me a favor and spare me. It's so typical of new beer fans to be on this "I hate macros!" bandwagon once they discover good quality craft beers. News flash: NOT ALL CRAFT BEER IS GOOD!
I am in no means trying to defend or stick up for the macro beer companies. I am just sick of the same drivel. Every beer has a time and a place. WORD! Ya Betta Ax Somebody!.... and all that jazz.
Michael Vick Is an Asshole and so are his supporters!
I am sickened by reading tweets about Micahel Vick. Sick bastards are saying "Who cares about the damned dogs?" "Let him play football he paid his debt to society." They they have the nerve to say "people get murdered and no one seems to raise an outrage." Well yes they do actually have outrage about murders. These assholes dismiss how heinous the animal cruelty actually was. They are reversed in their logic. They scream about human murders, but think it's okay if it's done to animals. We lock people up and put them in jail even execute them if they kill a person. If they hurt animals they normally only get a fine and probation because fuck it who cares about animals right? Vick did go to jail but didn't even serve the full time. And he has committed one of the worst acts of animal cruelty reported. It's not the worst, but goddamn it's pretty high up on the ladder.
Vick hasn't paid his debt to society until he gets done to him what he did to those dogs. That is according to me anyway. And I feel like that should be the same for anyone who hurts animals and people alike.
I will even go as far as to say I hope Michael Vick gets smashed while playing football again. I hope he suffers a career ending blow worthy if not worse than Joe Theismann. Yeah that's how much I hate Michael Vick. FUCK THAT SICK BASTARD!
Any justification of Michael Vick and his behaviors makes you a sick bastard too if you side with Vick. To make excuses or defend someone who viciously hurt animals in such a way, to dismiss animals as though there were nothing makes you inhuman and vile.
He wasn't just running a dog fighting ring. The things he did to those animals were horrifying and disgusting. The kinds of abuse are unspeakable. I don't care if you liked Vick as an athlete. To dismiss or act like what he did was no big deal makes you just as disgusting and just as big of an asshole.
My Big Brother Tweeting is out of control.
Yep I am aware of that folks. If you follow me on Twitter because of beer related issues or cooking, I must seem like a total scum bag. Some have dropped me because of this. But I don't care if you stop following me. I am not tweeting for a popularity contest. And I don't care if you don't want spoilers. They are my tweets. My random musings and trash talk. Mine All Mine!
I can't help it. Big Brother brings out the shit talking. Many charming postings about who I hate on this show and how much I think they suck. I have the live feeds and watch them while I am riding my exercise bike. Also with my hours being out of whack from writing, I sit up all night with the feeds on. I am kind of pathetic about it, but at least I am not doing nothing. Can't talk about what I am writing, but it's a years long project. Years!
